Good fishing hole in NW suburban chicago area...
As the title says, looking for a decent place to do some fishing. My daughter is itching to go for the first time, and I havent been fishing here in the midwest in almost 10 years. Any ideas?

Il tell you wha theres not much good water around you. You either need to head west. I know of a lake in elgin that is FILLED with big bass and tons of panfish. Its right around shoe factory road and like 59. If you want I can PM you directions. Its also a catch and release lake so you will catch alot of fish

If I remember correctly, busse is notorious for chinese rock/stick fish... blue gill, carp, and the occasional snapping turtle.
I would be interested in the catch and release place... Sounds like a winner since I dont eat fish, but like fishing, and its gonna offer the bigger kids some fun. If you wouldnt mind, hit me the location via PM.
Pro, always up for more local spots, that way if I get the itch I can roll out there in the middle of the week.

You know what, if I want, I can fish 5 mins walking from my house, but I would rather at least THINK I have a chance at catching something worth while. Weather or not I do.

3-5 lb largemouth is a a very nice fish especially in illinois or any state that really cant do fishin throughout the whole year for largemouth. yes ive caught my fair share of 8-10 pounders but in all reality thats a nice fish. as for the question goes if you see any small ponds surrounded by houses try them. gauranteed that havent been fished much.its the placesa like that that have the nice and consistent fish. trust me wen i lived in orland i always fished them and they were the best spots to go...other then that its the best advice i got....or hit up the des plains river for northern or walleye. haha

Yea i live out in Naperville and there is no where out here to get some good fishing in. The only plus side is theres really no one else out here that fishes except me and a couple buddies so we dont really need to compete with anyone for the little ponds we can find here and there

I will have to talk to a buddie and get back to you. Dont underestimate the Fox river as when fished right and when the waters at a good level it can be a amazing river to fish

Wow, log in for the first time in forever and see my old *** thread on the top of the page. I actually live on a lake now teaming with some large bass and freakishly large pan fish. Got to be a resident to access most of it tho as there are only a few spots to walk up and fish that are not private residences.
