Yesterday I met another guy with a Caprice, he lives in Freedom which is near WIR, hopefully we can represent the b-body crowd well this year instead of just me and one stock Caprice. The guy with the stock Caprice may not be staying that way long either, yesterday the tranny began to act flakey he is thinking stall and gears to go with a new tranny. On the tranny subject I would discourage any of you from asking "The Gear Box" in GB to build you a performance 4L60E. I think they are good guys and may still use them for things like flushes and whatnot but the "performance" built 4L60E I had them do was a huge waste of money. Learn from my mistake. If anyone wants the details I can share, but suffice to say after that one went I talked to them and decided not to give them a second chance and my current tranny is one I ordered from ProBuilt Automatics in CA and I am happy.

Caprice, where in Green Bay would you go for a stall install? That's something I'm not even going to mess with and I'm looking for a good shop that won't screw me for the install..

I don't know. The Gear Box said I "didn't need the Transgo shift kit and that a stock TC would be best small diameter ones would require extra lockup plates and are too inefficient" Wrong on every count I tow a little and love the 2800 stall Edge I have in my car and the new frictions allow single disc lockup to hold more than older multi discs. There is an in-laws in-law I would trust with some tranny work but I am sure he only does work on trannies brought to him and will not mess with removing them from cars. I would strongly encourage you do do a Transgo at the time of the TC install. While the tranny is out for the TC it makes the shift kit install much easier to flip it over on the workbench instead of getting an ATF shower under the car.
The TC amost anyone could do right, the shift kit is the hard part. I do almost all my own work, heck I did my own rearend gears something most mechanics will not touch, so I have little experaince with what shops do good work.

What do you drive?
I work in Little Chute so I drive down S right through your back yard every day. If you see a gold with wood Buick wagon going too fast that is probably me, wave. The Red Caprice you may have seen at one of the real street nights or other weeknight events is mine as well. Actually thinking back I might have done some B.S.ing with someone driving a blue66 maybe we have already met.

Actually you drive right through my front yard!! I live on S where rock road T's into it. Just east of 76, maybe a mile. tan house, tan pole building, and black enclosed trailer alongside garage, and usually a black 2500hd in the driveway. I see some people looking for a place to get some mods done, TC's, gears, etc. I am the service manager for a small shop in Appleton , who would be glad to provide these services for anyone at a fair rate. We also have an inventory of about 50 used cars. Check us out, www.TOMMEIERSMOTORS.com. ALso I have been an ASE master tech for almost 10yrs now, have and can do just about anything related to a car. There is also a place for dynoing and tuning here in Appleton, if anybody is interested,
my email is blue66@highstream.net, I check this day and night, so email with any questions and I will usually get back to you within a few hrs. Thanks, Brian. Oh yea I seen something about a get together on here, we are planning a cruise night meeting @ Jukebox Charlies in Appleton this summer. check @ www.wisconsinstreetdominators.com under events forum. There will be some VERY fast cars there. Later, guys

I believe the dyno place he speaks of is Extreme Performance which is just north of the Airport right behind Burger King. They strapped my car down last spring some ricers even stuck around to watch, nice shop and the I believe owner has a blown alky old Chevy or something. Forgive me there but I do not know my old cars other than to say this was 40s to 50s vintage and makes a hell of a lot of noise when he is in the staging lanes next to you.
blue, if I see you outside one day maybe I will stop and say HI.

If it would come in handy for anyone I have the equipment to reprogram the 94-5 LT1 pcms and can point anyone withg a 96-7 at how to go about using the 94-5 pcm. The trouble codes are less detailed but the tuning and logging software is a fraction the cost.

What about tuning too? I heard after you get a TC you need to get a tune.. I'm looking for a shop that will do good for me because I don't do much major work on my cars ( like anything internal engine or transmission ) so I'd like a pro to be doing that work.

I have a friend with an Impala SS in Muskego not far from Kohl's.
On the tuning thing the car will at worst be annoying to drive with a stock tune and a higher stall TC, I would suggest living withn it for a few days till you can get it dealt with by Madz28 or pcmforless. Madz28 is down in the Chicago area so you could maybe meet him and have him tune the car, actually down that way there are probably several options, up here though I don't think you will find a shop capable of tuning an LS1 or even an LT1 for that matter. Extreme Performance was impressed with my tuning/logging stuff and even at the reasonable prices for OBD1 LT1 tuning stuff it does not make sense for them to look into it because of what it takes to get a good return on that investment.

Dropfest probably wouldn't work. Power Tour is happening at the same time...but dunno.
Was in dropfest last year, should be even bigger this year. I regretted not racing last year, I didn't think there would be such slow sixers there...ahhh... hehe

I am from Green Bay. I work in Stevens Point. I go to both WIR and GLD. I'd be more than happy to meet others at the strip and do a little racing. I've got to change my sig, I had my TA for about a year now.......
