I paid $1,100 for my pure bred, AKC long haired miniature Dachshund, but price wasn't an obstacle when finding the right dog. Dogs to me are more than pets, they are family. Luka is like my son, and I spoil the **** out of him.
You could try here, they have a lot of useful links: http://www.thedachshundnetwork.com/

We had a longhaired miniature dachshund when I was a kid... That was... geesh 20yrs ago and I remember we paid $400 then! We bought it from a local breeder. I remember when he was a puppy taking him to Chicago and we went thru the museums with him in a diaper bad... lol Great dog until it got old and grouchy as hell.
Uh, I guess that was pointless... oh no my point was they are pricey.

There's a breeder in Bellefountaine where we got our AKC Husky from for $200 (perfect dog, BTW) that they also bred Dachshunds.
Do a Google search for the area, but I'll see when I get home from this weeks travels if I can find their info on our registration papers.

My mom paid about $400 for hers from a breader, my sister paid less but it was not from a breeder. My moms has pretty much perfect markings. Both minature and short hairs.
They say the males are less agressive.
Go to a breeder, dogs are like cars, you get what you pay for.
You might start looking around at the pounds and all, might get lucky.
Just like buying cars, take yout time man.

Have you tried looking on the pet adoption sites? Both of our dogs were adopted, and both are pure bred (yellow lab and a boston terrier).
Dozer, the lab, was $100 to adopt and Turbo was $200.

I was thinking about getting a "regular" and not a mini....i'm not sure exactly how "mini" a mini is lol
I have a Welsh Corgi right now, and he's a big one (53lbs) normally weigh 30lbs and I like his size
i cannot find any breeders in ohio, has anybody gotten one in ohio?
I'm afraid i'll have to buy a puppy instead of adopt an older dog because of the other pets in our house

My parents have long haired mini's, a male black and tan and a female red. They know of a place that breeds them here in illinois, with full akc papers etc. If you are interested I can get you their phone number to contact them. I have full blooded ukc registered Bluetick Coonhounds if you are willing to consider a big dog.
