So I've decided To not wait for the 09-10 Camaro. Instead im just gonna build my Formula. Car is a 1995 LT1 Firebird Formula 6 Speed, basicall stock with just a k&n and MAF. So I need to know what thnigs to get/prices/where to get them. So far i have thought of a few things, I want it to be a street sleep but then be able to go to the track and run high 11's or low 12's. Here's what I have now: H/C/I Package Nitrous Rear End Gears Short Throw Shift Light Weight Reduction Rims & Tires Tune Let me know where to get these what I can expect to spend and what I should run. Any and all help is wanted/need and would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone thinks of anything else to add to the list then LMK. Thanx guys Vince |
Come on guys a little help would be great..thanx |
h/c may 2k? i dont know about lt1's n20-1k? for everything rear end- 2500 or so shifter-150 light-100 weight reduction-free rims/tires that all depends on the brand of rims mine all together for both was about 1k tune 400ish that is all a guess you would have to look into what exactly you want go to texas-speed.com thunderracing.com ls1speed.com they will all have some parts |
Thanx bro I appreciate it. I will check out those sites. Vince |
LS1 swap >* |
agreed! haha ^^^^^ |
I was also thinking that. We'll see what happens, but if i do the LSX swap i want to get the conversion to 98+ so ya, I dunno its just another option we'll see but liek i said keep ideas prices where to go comin guys thanx Vince |
If you would consider an ls1 swap maybe you should just sell the lt1 and pick up an ls1. You can usually find lightly modded ls1's fairly cheap these days. If you want to build an lt1 that's cool too. On my old lt1 I had Lloyd Elliot (sponsor) port some heads and do one of his custom cams...with all the supporting mods that you need I think I paid around $4,500 (Heads, cam, electric wp, 58mm, headers, plugs, wires, head bolts, gaskets, cam lube, oil and filter, injectors and tuning). Bad part is I only made 382 rwhp and 352 rwtq...with a bolt on ls1 you could probably surpass that. |

You're not passing 382rwhp with a bolt on LS1 unless one of your bolt ons is NO2. |

The record has got to be fairly close to that, isn't it? My first pull I only made 372 and then 382 on the second...still that not all that great for H/C and full bolt ons. (my opinion) |
I made 407rwhp/375rwtq (sae corrected was 423rwhp) with Lloyds LE2 h/c through a 6spd and a moser 9". Sounds like you tuning is what was holding you back. But like Sworaz stated the supporting mods/tuning could overcome the price or the h/c setup itself. If you shop around real good for the best price you can pick up the supporting mod for just over $1K(assuming you already have some bolt-ons) |

It's still all up in the air.. But just a question, If i were to sell the LT1 how much could i get for it? Does anyone know what they go for? I was thinkin, if I go to an LS based motor then I would like to upgrade the front end to the 98+, like i said before. So all in all Would I be better stayin with the LT1 or go for the LS1/2? LMK guys Thanx |
The LS1/LS2 engines are by far the better engines, But I personally like being the underdog. The LS1 cars cost so much more to mod. But the result is way better. The same mods you do on an LT1, you can do to an LS1 and get more power. Hands up if you can offord an LS1, go that route, but I'd personally build a (Forged bottom end) 383 LT1 with an awesome h/c package and spray some juice on it. And most importantely don't forget the suspension and trans. and rear end. Good Luck James |
Lt1Formula you are builing a 383? If so let me knwo what u plan on using for everything and the results that they make. I want to get the LS1 but like I said everythign is still up in the air, I'm still debating just leaving my car stock or like i mentioned in earlier posts go for low 12's or quicker. So ya.. Have fun with the build and keep me informed please. Thanx Bro Vince |
