Shaw and Ft. Jackson are about 45 minutes apart. Columbia is nice for a few months and then get old. Having a big college right is kinda nice though if you do the bar scene at all...5-points is off the chain!

Camden is nice too, know a few of my bosses live over there. I live just outside Sumter cause its a lil cheaper and its a lil closer to Columbia which is where all the action is.

Far as car stuff...carolinarides.com is your best bet

I loved being stationed there. I lived a few blocks away from 5 Points back when it used to be the car hang out spot. Don't know where they hang now. So many women. The highway circles around the city, and you can get probably 4-5 races everytime you lap it if that's your thing.

You ain't kidding. Especially when you're a drill sergeant and walking the firing line on the rifle range from 0700-1800 in the middle of July lol. But I still miss that place. Columbia is the only place outside of Texas I was ever consider moving to after retirement.

Good luck in school. I was DA select in 96 but turned it down. I wish I would have gone.
