We are looking for individuals to assist SF training in conducting a "wet
lab" for training in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. Basically, what I
need are 4 individuals to volunteer to drink alcohol from 1200 - 1700 on 14
Aug and 21 Aug. A few rules:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must not have any alcohol/drug related incidents
Must be mature
Must not have any disciplinary issues
Must be capable of following directions even after consuming alcohol
Must identify a designated driver upon volunteering
The volunteers will be monitored at all times by a Security Forces member.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their drink of choice with them. Some
volunteers will be asked to drink very little, while others will be asked to
consume enough to put them well over the legal limit. Throughout the
course, they will be asked to perform Field Sobriety Tests to assist in the
training of Security Forces members. Prior to being released to their
designated driver the volunteer must be at/below at .10 BAC as determined by the Intoxilizer 5000. Each volunteer will be required to sign a contract
prior to drinking stating they understand the need to have a designated
driver, are under the operational control of Security Forces during the
training session and will not drive a motor vehicle after participating in
the training.

^^ I disagree.
If you don't meet those criteria I would think they wouldn't accept you as the test subject?
I think that this might be real world traning for a SF troop that hasnt' seen a dunkard.

This IS real training for SF. We do it once a year. Mostly off duty SF are asked to come in as the test subjects but every now and then we get some out of squadron personnel so we don't know what their attitude is like off the booze. This is to qualify or refresh SF personnel on the SFST's(Standardized field sobriety tests) and the personnel that are being qualified do not get to see you before they bring you into a room and the SF performs the test on you. Some might be sober, some might have had 2 shots, some might have been drinking for 3 hours straight. The point is to see if the SF can identify who is intoxicated or not, they do not see you or what you have drank till they bring you in front of the qualifying SF and their evaluators. We usually call it our in house squadron drinking party, everybody usually volunteers.

Acutally this is a pretty common practice..... I work security on NAS Corpus Christi, and I conduct these. There is a requirement to actually practice during your training in a real world situation, so we get people drunk, and have the students do the tests on them, so that they get to see the clues of intoxication prior to it being a situation where the courts can let someone go..... any mistakes can be corrected, and practice is conducted at identifying clues.

I am actually one of the instructors for SFST's...... It is funny sometimes what happens when you shoot emails out looking for random folks to get drunk....
We had a female lt rubbing one of the SF guys nipples in the back room.... Madness.

DO IT, that was my favorite time of the year when I worked as the cops supply guy. I was always real cool with the training guys so when they needed volunteers they would always put my name down first. Another cool thing was the k9 guys had drugs they kept in a safe in the armory and I had to watch over them inventory it and make sure they didn't slip any in their pocket. ha ha

they did something like that at my command for a safety stand down...it was pretty funny watching the one that went all out and was drunk by the end of it...
