Which AFB's to stay away from.

Whiteman is pretty lame. 50 miles east of KC if you want any kind of real nightlife. There are about 6 people here locally that own F-Bodies so that makes it alright. The nearest track isnt that far away...about 40-50 miles. There is a college in the nearest town to Whiteman but only 1 or 2 good bars and 2 out of the 3 strip joints in the outskirts of town are alright...if you like pregnant and meth addicted strippers.

I wanted to move to a bigger city. This is it. I love Las Vegas, not for the gambling, but cuz i have made a lot of friends there in the last 5yrs, and not lived there...that's just tdy's some a military, most aren't. I don't feel like riding a bus everyday to work for creech. DM would have been nice, I think i made a good choice for me and my family. No excersices, no chem gear, no tdys...unless they do make the agressor squadron mobile. Meaning they go to you instead everyone going to redflag all the time. I have some F-22 experience, f-16's as well as the F-117 which i just got done helping retire. I have 5yrs Crash experience and an SEI in it. So, hopefully i can stay in Crash.

im at edwards its horrible in cali in the middle of the mojave desert and its like 45 mins to the closest big city....im tdy in nellis rite now they have rediculous facilities its aimed at retired higher up's two story gym....huge bx like a small mall lol its nice here and your 5 mins from the vegas strip def good for a single guy

Why hasnt anyone said Hickam AFB Honolulu HI??? It was my wife's 1st base and it was bad *** place to live! Tons of stuff to do and its HAWAII!!!!!!! Best 3 years of my life and im from Pensacola Fl area! We are now at Whiteman AFB and it isnt too bad. Its a college town with a few clubs and alot of bars. There is alot of summer car shows and cruses of in KC area about 45 miles away. also a place called power light district in KC that is bad *** place to party!

Any and all bases can suck, its all what YOU make it.
I have been in 17 years and have been stationed at Dover, Kadena, Osan, and I have been here at Hurlburt since 1999. Been tdy almost half my time here though. Go to special ops if you want to travel. Things are really getting shaken up here since the realignment of AFSOC and the move to Cannon. A lot of guys are just getting out or cross training to avoid going to Cannon. The cool thing is if you go to special ops and get stationed at Cannon you can be tdy all over the world and only spend half your time there.
Any base in Florida is nice. I plan on retiring here at Hurlburt. Kirtland is nice also. It all depends on what you want.

just left Seymour Johnson and it wasn't all that bad there.... the f body scene is everywhere just get to know the right people (Z28/2002) for instance .... I am at Osan now and I love it..... I don't know if I would return to SJ but for the time I spent there I think it was good all around....

Ok, I am at Cannon, this is a known fact, I have been to Hurlburt, Eglin, Tyndall, and Patrick. Out of those Florida bases, I would trade Cannon for Eglin or Patrick. Hurby was to busy for me and Tyndall was a **** hole. I've been offered an FTD instructor job at DM doing 2M (miniature/micro-miniature electronics repair), turned it down to stay at Cannon. Also turned down a command level reassignment offer to Hurby from AFSOC/CC. Call me crazy. Best base ive been to is Moron, Spain. That place was awesome!

I did 4.5 years at cannon back when the base had money and base housing was not run down. I have family in clovis, and still would not come back. No offense, but you are nuts!

Sheppard sucks. been tdy barksdale it sucks. tdy to dyess it suck but the girls are so easy to pick up at the clubs there lol, thats the only fun i had there. at hurlburt now and like it. love the area
