Camaro is my old one. Needs a driver mod, and it's got timing pulled for nitrous so it's only making about 370whp. That car was a dog off bottle lol.

Damn 426 rwhp and it smoked a bolt on 5.0 like that! That 5.0 should be around the same power no? I've always wondered how I would do against a full bolt ons new 5.0...I guess this gives me a good idea lol

The 5.0 made 390ish whp. It getting retuned here shortly so I would bet it'll pick up a bit of power.

Dyno #s mean very little. My old car dyno'd 400/400 through a steel DS, fab 9", and 28" slicks. It moved out quicker than a 400whp car (on the motor tune)

Yep, I totally get where you are coming from. Mine dynoed 405 rwhp on my last dyno, but it was apparently enough to stay within a car length of my buddy's ported and pullied 03 Cobra. That car is close to 500 rwhp

Cobra's weigh 400-500lbs more than F-body's do, and seem to lose power quickly with the stock blowers from heat. I know when I was shopping for one of those or a Vette it seemed like they needed at least 100whp more than a Vette to beat one.

Well funny thing is about this Cobra is that it's about 200 lbs lighter than stock, and has 3.73 gears as well. Even with that and probably 80 more hp he didn't pull on me that much at all. I thought a 03-04 Cobra was only about 200 lbs heavier than a f-body LS1 no?

Just looked it up, they are closer than I thought. ~3700 vs ~3400, so around 300lbs. Either way, Cobra's have always seemed really slow for the power they put down compared to other cars.

its funny that the 5.0 gets beat by 2 or 3 cars and when it finally wins the race against the camaro there subtitles for mod motor. Guess going 1 for 3 gets you a special announcement.

It's actually a joke on our local forum lol. Nothing at all to do with winning or losing.

Maybe, but how much more does that 5.0 weigh over the Firebird in that video? I've read where you guy's have referrenced the weight of the Cobra's, but aren't the new 5.0's even heavier?

A base 5.0 is close to 100lbs less than a Cobra; about 3,600lbs.

Even with the 200 lb difference between a the 5.0 and Firebird it was still a massacre...proving that peak hp number, weight, etc...don't always tell the whole story! I do agree with on the Cobra's needing quite a bit more power to overcome a f-body in general...i've seen this first hand lol
