High revving V8's Anyone have any racing or dyno vids of v8's revving over 7000? I love the sound of them! I have this one vid of a camaro and a bike racing and in the end the camaro sounds like he rev's to high hell. Anyone have any info on this car or know them? http://media.putfile.com/Camaro-w-n2o-vs-CBR600f4i |
Don't have any vids, but I read a couple months back in Muscle Car Review(I think) of the 69 Z/28 302 Hemi, it spun to 10,600 rpm and made 600+hp, now thats really cranking. To bad it was never put into production. |
that car in the race sounded like it was revvin at least 7200/7300. im sure he had a nice forged bottom end, i think you'd be able to get away with that without going solid roller. |
doesnt sound to me like its revving to high to me sounds good though |
this is S.A.M.'s 395cid Ford going up to 9600 http://www.samracing.com/docs/95must...angengine1.wmv and S.A.M.'s 427 Production block & headed LS1 http://www.samracing.com/docs/99cama...s/ls1dyno2.mpg |
No vids here either. But I got a buddy with a 69 Camaro with a 377 that will spin 8750 through LT's 3in in and out 1 chamber Flows with turndowns and get's there quick. That thing sounds sinster. |
those are two nice vids you posted matt ;) |

69 Z/28 302 Hemi |

The z/28 hemi he is talking about is a prototype engine that Smokey Unick (not sure if thats spelled right) put together to see if it was worth trying to mass produce. If it is the one I'm thinking of it had semi-hemi canted-valve heads on it. I think they built 2 or 3 of them but deemed it not cost effective. It was for trans-am racing, but as to how much horsepower or how many rpm it turned don't know. |
when my dad bought his 81 malibu the guy that sold it to us said its a dz302(67-69 z28 motor) so when got my hands on it i ran the bitch 9500 through all 4 gears wow it was the most amazing feeling ever. my friends didnt beleive me so took them for a ride LOL u should seen there faces. we pulled out the motor back in sept. and found out that it was a plain old 350ci. LOL |

:bs: on the plain 350 running to 9500 in all gears. It might be possible to turn it that high in first if you had 5.xx gears but without serious power it couldnt do it in all gears. I say it will exlpode around 7-7500rpm. Theres just no way a stock 350 will pull to 9500. Obviously the tach was messed up. |
I have to call BS on that one. Valve float would destroy your valves at that speed and crappy 70's-80's quality motor would self implode and become a black hole. |
