AWD doesn't always = traction

Talk about needing to turn the boost down, WTF are these guys thinking?

damn!!!

Shouldn't a two stage boost controller work?

KFK Jun 8, 2006 02:27 PM

My Typhoon did that on the street. Its no fun you can't control when the front is sliding too.

What he said!

Geez, wouldnt you pedal it after the first few runs. The guy driving is a monkey in my book.

Even a boost controller that can control boost for each gear.... Either way they have one poor driver behind the wheel. I've seen local guys with the same problem keep it under control. Hell even when Parish was getting squiggly back when he could still hold his foot in it.

Keep in mind that car has 970 rwhp, and those were the initial shakedown runs with the setup. I'm sure it'll get a BIT faster with some work.

F8LWS6 Jun 8, 2006 05:12 PM

That thing is fuckin nasty :eek2:

njn63 Jun 8, 2006 05:31 PM

988 awhp actually.

2 FASST SS Jun 8, 2006 06:02 PM

Tougher suspension???

Mavmavv Jun 8, 2006 06:08 PM

Wooooo, 988hp and its worthless in the 1/4!

Mr Powell Jun 8, 2006 06:29 PM

Wow none of you all have driven anything fast have you? Its not that easy to just PEDDLE it and keep it straight. He was trying to keep it going even to just get a MPH out of it. AMS has the worlds fastest EVO and they are trying to make it even faster..

988AWHP with NO nitrous is fucking impressive. It takes alot to get it hooked up, and its going to take some time. By all means that doesnt mean the guy can't drive. Driving fast cars require lots of work. I can keep my steering wheel straight and go towards the center line, and if I try to correct it the car does nothing. If I tried to peddle it the car will shock the tires again.. I have a nitrous car yes, but a Turbo car will do the EXACT same thing. If I'm going for a time Ill have to hope I find the groove or Ill abort the run which is what he ended up doing.

How long has AMS been driving that car with all of the different power levels? End of argument.

What use is that car to the world? Yes, it's got ridiculous HP but who cares? The only respectable records are the ones in which the car can make it to the end of the damn track... especially before a grandma with a walker owns you.

Ru2n00n3er Jun 8, 2006 07:43 PM

I don't think you guys understand the part about a "skakedown run". I'd like to see any of you, or myself, try and do well in that car the first time at the track. I think my pass would look about the same. I'm also not entirely sure that was the normal driver for that car.

It was a shakedown run.. what dont you understand? They HAVE the FASTEST evo right now and they are trying to make it faster. Its FASTEST b/c it made it down the track prior to the increase in power...

ls1_chevelle Jun 8, 2006 08:28 PM

What was the previous power level before this rebuild???

Looks like that 100,000buck drivetrain was on a suicide mission.

What I don't understand is why someone would have a car with so much hp it can't make it down the track. A car that can't make it down the track will not set time records, end of story. That's what I was saying. Yes, they already have the record for fastest EVO. They will not be setting any more records if the car can't hook for shit. I didn't say I could drive it and get it to stick. I'm saying there's a point of excessive power that a given car can't utilize and can make the car utterly useless, especially when trying to set quarter mile records. I'm not sure how else to say it.
