Nightime Picture Help
 

I have a sony DSC-P52 Digital camera and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to get night shots to come out. They always come out yellow or blurry. Is there anything i should know or does anyone have any tricks. The camera has 2 functions for night which are twilight mode and twilight portrait mode. Any tips would help

Does it have manual controls?

I'm assumming the night modes are just slowing down the shutter speed. If so, you need to hold the camera as steady as possible for it to look right (most likely need a tripod or somewhere to place the camera so it does not move).

yeah the shutter slows way down....there is a turn dial and you choose the setting. Yeah a tripod would prolly be the answer like the manual recommends

A tip I learned in school that has really helped me is to do the shots early. It doesn't have to be midnight to get a night shot. Do the shots as early as possible after the sun has gone down. If you have the time right, you will still have the effect of night in the finished image

I have a Sony DSC-W7, and to fix the yellow change the white balance if yours has it. Mine has a few settings to get the color I want out of the pic. The blurry, tripod or do like me, find something to sit the camera on.

the yellow might be from a light source like a streetlight. if most of the pic is yellow-ish, its slightly overexposed and you can tone it down a bit. or you just fix the color in photoshop, but the tripod will solve the blurry problem.
