Default This is what I do…

Well, just thought I'd show you guys what I do for a living. I used to work for a company where I did automotive designs 90% of the time but, I changed jobs about 4.5 years ago and most of the stuff I do now is logo oriented. Every once in a while I'll get a fun design though. Here's a couple of t-shirt designs I did this past fall.

Yes. My degree is actually in Illustration but, there aren't a lot of "9 to 5s" for an illustrator so I make a living a Creative Director/Designer. Every once in a while, a job comes along that requires custom illustration.

what skool did you go for designing. Cus in about a year and half im going to transfer to Art Center for transportation design, and that art center also offers other designing programs and one of them being illustration.

I went to The University of Tennessee. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration/Graphic Design. Design is a HUGE field and most the jobs out there are very specific. So, my advice is give it a lot of thought and decide what field you would like to work in. Then find an accredited school that offers that program AND has a career placement program so they will help you find a job when you graduate. Don't forget to find out what their placement percentage is. Then go for it and bust your ***.

What program(s) do you use to illustrate like that? I also love to draw and paint, but haven't done any computer illustration work.

I'm good with Photoshop, just never messed with illustration/drawing on the computer.

Mostly Freehand and Illustrator but, this kinda stuff I usually draw by hand. You can't really get the same line quality with a computer. Then, I scan the line drawing into Photoshop, clean it up, Streamline it to convert it to vector art and then import it into Freehand or Illustrator to make spot color separations. So, all the color work is done with those programs. Then I can output the separations for the print shop.

But, this is work stuff. When I do "real" illustrations it's with watercolor and colored pencils. I also did a little photography in college, and I love to do that.

Hey, I just wanted to show you guys what I did at work. This was basically a Christmas present to myself. Although, I did give my mechanic and paint-n-body guys a few of these as well. Whadaya think?

…this was the closest thing to NBM I could find in a cap!
