Default Possible scammer alert? Autohomeparts

Autohomeparts

I have a WTB up for a few parts, this guy PM'd me asking if I was interested in a cam still.

I immediately noticed he had no posts, no trader feedback and the like.
Upon further investigation he just joined today.

Anyway, I told him to please pm back pictures, mileage, and price for the cam. (Looking for a TSP 228R).

His next reply was simply " Please send me your email for pictures and price".

In making my response I told him all of that can be sent on LS1Tech via PM, sent it off to him, and then checked out as much of his info as I could.

MODS please investigate user?

Default Beware of autohomeparts (scam!!)

I posted a ad on parts classifieds about wanting to buy 243 heads and autohomeparts PM'd me saying he had a set of ls6 heads, he was asking 590 shipped and asked for my complete address so he could figure out exact shipping cost... I told him where I lived near but not the complete address, he sent pics and was pretty convincing until I told him to send more pics because the heads didn't have yellow ls6 valve springs, long story short they now had yellow valve springs..

Tis the season to be greedy! This is a great catch, and a very good reason to make sure users post a pic with the date and their username in front of the parts.

He's tried to sell me parts as well. Like someone else said if you reverse image search the pics they are other peoples stuff.

This happened on 3 forums to me recently, crazy.

people are scumbags and ruin a good thing. I have a set of 243 that came off of my dads 43k mile 04 zo6 for sale. I just picked them up from the machine shop a week ago. I had them freshend up and a brand new Bryan tooley .660 valve spring set installed. Asking $700 and you pay shipping. If your interested pm me and I'll send you my number

He pm me to saying he had a set of rims in the wtb that i posted. Said he emailed me but never emailed pics. Was very vague on any details about them unless i mentioned the details. Like he didnt know anything about what he "has".

He tried the same thing with me. Offered me used Compstar rods for $400.

On a side note, but somewhat similar, I received about $300 in funds via PayPal tonite, stuff I had on various facebook groups. Its crazy how quickly people will send money to a stranger, especially with no feedback like most forums have. Ive offered this account as proof, but none seem to be worried about it. They have no reason to be worried, but a little common sense...

He had a couple ads up for a fast LS3 intake & also LS3 heads.. Priced very low. I contacted him, as well as many others. I was a bit leery because he wouldnt call or fully respond to my questions. He asked to paypal as GIFT to avoid fees. I expressed my concern with his zero feedback and wanted to talk directly. I looked back at the thread and saw someone posted "money sent". I called him out, and he said noone has paid yet. I saw others had sent money as well. I PMd him back, told him he'd been busted. He played dumb & promptly deleted his ads...

Got a message from him as well. I have a WTB wheels ad and he emailed me wheels that were not what I was looking for. Dont know more than that.

And seriously people.... Doing anything PayPal "Friends and Family" is not the correct way to do things. If you know and trust them maybe, but once you do friends and family, and the PayPal fees are avoided, PayPal will NOT back your purchase...... The reason you pay those fees is for them to obviously make money, but they are essentially a insurance for your money. So many people want to use that on these forums and I dont trust it. I will gladly pay the fees for some additional protection from people I do not know.

Not saying its not a scam because sending you pics of 1 thing then another is weird. But not all 243 heads have yellow springs FYI some came with Blue... My Z06 had the blue ones... Also a 799 is basically the same exact head minus sodium filled valves which the Z06's had.... Don't think LS2 243 heads had them either...

Got a message from him as well. I have a WTB wheels ad as well and he emailed me pictures of the wheels, said they were HPD Wheels. Design was incorrect anyway and were not what I was looking for regardless. Not sure if he meant well or what but just a FYI.

Found the pictures he sent of the wheels in Google images FWIW. Those pictures linked me to eBay and they are for a Honda Accord...

Yea, good catch on this idiot. He is the type that ruins it for the rest of us. As for Paypal and the fees, If you have good feedback on this forum or I know of you, then I will send as a gift every time to save the fee. I have yet to get burned because I check the seller out first. On a seller that has little or zero posts here and no one knows who it is, I wont buy his stuff at all. I never trust a person that his first post is something for sale. Kind of a red flag for me.

Yea I knew not all 243s did not have yellow springs but I thought the ls6 ones should have had them if nobody ditched them yet
