EBAY uncut VATS? Just wondering if this is safe to purchase. The dealer wants too much http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Vats-...mZ110299228443 |
A lot of hardware stores does "coded" keys these days. Shouldn't be too expensive, compared to the stealership |
hmmm, so like Home Depot, Lowes etc? They carry them and cut, or just cut? |
If you're getting a security light it's just not recognizing the key pelet value, most likely it's dirty or the small wires attached to the lock cyl aren't making contact anymore. You can easily bypass VATS yourself with a resistor matching your current key. Look around the site for VATS bypass procedure. |
I got a eGay key. Works just like it should - OEM quality. |

Sorry, maybe I should have cleared this in the beginning. I purchased the car with only one set of keys and key FOB. I am trying to buy all three so that I can have a spare. |
If you know your VATs code then keys are pretty cheap anywhere. |
What does your dealer want for a key? that ebay link will cost you $21 and then you need them cut. my GM guy sells me the key and cuts it for $26. |
I got a ebay key for my corvette It even has the chevy logo on it... works great I paid 9.00 for the ebay key. Youll find out walmart or homedeopt wont cut the key though they told not to because they are scared. I had a local dealership cut the key for free. To find your key number- Stick a digital ohm meter probe on each side of the metal tips on the key and take your number and compare it to the numbers on the cart, It should be within a certain range per number of key. real easy. Mine was a #6 |
Thanks, I read that on ebay as well. Thanks for the heads up. |
The one nearest to me wanted something like $85 dollars to get the code and cut the key. I just got off the phone with another dealers and they quoted me $28 cut. |
