Default About to make the plunge

i am about to purchase an engine/trans combo, and am wondering what path to go. I was originally planning a LS1 and swap the heads on a set of afr 205s, but am wondering if an ls2/L92 conversion would be a better route. My plans are LSx with 6speed in a 69 camaro for pro-touring/ daily driver/ road trip car. looking for around 450ish at the wheels N/A with dreams of forced induction somewhere down the road. budgeting for the engine and trans is about 8000 with the purchase of the engine/trans. fuel system and wiring are allready in the works, as well as mounts and exhaust.

If you want to go forced induction down the road get your self a forged S/B from a sponsor. You need to make the call on the FI now because you'll want a lower compression moter. So you could do a ls1 347ci and get a set of used heads for the time and when you go FI get some AFR's 225 and that will put you around 9-1 compression. If you dont think FI will happen build your self a ls2. The reason for my choice is you can chance the compression of a 347 with just a head swap. With a 402ci ls2 you would have to change pistions to drop the compression. Or if you start with a big dish pistion in a ls2 you will be down on power untill the blower setup.

Because with a big CI moter you would want a big combustion chamber head, on a 347 you normaly run a 62cc head so by jumping to 72cc head like i did with a -4cc dish pistion i went from 10-1 compression to 9.2-1 compression. 72cc is the biggest cc option for lsx head so you cant go bigger with the head to drop compression you have to do it with a pistion.

ya if you just want 450 right now just do ls1 qith heads and cam and a tune and worry about going low compression later when you have the stuff cause ls1 with heads and cam is not goin g to break your budget you can fiond that stuff anywhere
