Almost in the 12's

Well I went out to the track last night and I made my fastest runs of the year so far. The temp was 72* humidity was around 30% with a 28mph headwind. I'll probably be in the 12's when its not as windy out.

R/T... .502 :D
60FT... 1.762
330... 5.292
1/8... 8.266
MPH... 81.90
1000... 10.872
1/4... 13.072
MPH...102.44
(with full tank of gas, only thing under the hood not stock is K&N FIPK & no free mods done)
Only mods Flowmaster/K&N FIPK/vig3200/ET streets/3.73
:D

I also want to add that I we went out and raced at Bandimere in Colorado for the ET Finals. Just wanted to say that track is awesome, love how the staging lanes go downhill so you can keep the cars cool. Only thing I didnt like was the dramatic weather changes out there. We had 1 round at 72* and the next round (5 min later) is was 38* :eek2: thats insane.

Re: Almost in the 12's

Take that flowmaster crap off and put your stock muffler (or basically any other brand performance muffler) on, and you'll be in the 12's.

:D

Nice times btw. :drive:

Would a 1/4 tank of gas give you 12's?

Re: Almost in the 12's

Not trying to be negative here, just giving you something to compare too...

That's not all that great for having a converter and ET streets. That alone should put you near the mid to high 12's. My old '00 Z28 ran 13.0 @ 107mph N/A with only a lid & catback on a 2.0x 60'.

I agree with xphantomws6x. Get rid of that Flowmaster crap.

1/4 tank of gas and a cutout and you'll have room to spare in the high 12's. :drive:

Re: Almost in the 12's

I was running that through a cutout. Yes, if i had a 1/4 tank of gas i would have hit 12's but you also have to remember that i said there was a 28mph headwind(driving into the wind)so that doesnt help out. *unit213* please dont respond to any more of my posts. I'm running 13.0's with only 295rwhp, if you know anything about racing you would think that was good. The car leaves hard with the gear and converter but with only 295hp it doesnt have the top end i need to hit 12's easily. Also my car weighs 3700lbs with driver, full tank of gas and all the other crap in my car. I dont believe you ran a 13.0 if you only had a lid and a catback:bs:. If it ran that fast why would you sell it to buy a cobra that only runs .2(maybe) faster than your "stock" camaro.

Wow ... that was harsh, he was just trying to help you out. Plus, he is perfectly correct. Without your headwind, and without that flowmaster, you probably would be right where he said, mid-high 12's.

Researching some of unit's posts will tell you why he got rid of his car and bought the 03 cobra (which if I remember correctly was his LAST choice).

you have a 12 sec car, just wait for the right weather conditions. don't change anything.

I "sold" the Z28 because it was a lease. The lease ended. End of story. It's obvious that you don't know much about '03 Cobras to say that it's .2 faster than my LS1 was. Do some research on what a '03 Cobra runs with a pulley, full exhaust, a chip, and a 50 shot of nitrous. Mabye one of the members here can help you out a bit.

It's unfortunate that you can't take constructive criticism. I honestly don't care if you call :bs: on my 13.0 @ 107mph runs. I have nothing to prove to you. I've posted my time slips here on many different occasions and there have been plenty of guys who've seen me run at the track.

You're wrong if you think all your posts are going to get great feedback. I didn't bash you in any way. I gave you my opinion. If you can't handle it, that's your problem.

Good luck with your car and with future runs the track.

You're absolutely right. The Cobra was my last choice. First was a beautiful '02 WS6, then an '03 Z06, followed by an '03 C5. None of them worked out and I ended up with the Cobra. Take lemons and make lemonade right? I don't think anyone would say anything negative about a 10 second daily driver. ;)

I understand Kansas's remarks. He's pissed because he feels I insulted him and his car. We all love our cars. He was defending it as well as himself. That's completely unnecessary however. Maybe he's afraid of my '03 Cobra. :D

Re: Almost in the 12's

I dont doubt you ran a 13.0. I just know you didnt do it with the mods you listed. I've seen plenty of people with those same mods running 13.6-7's all day long. I have a friend with an 02 that has a lid, ported tb and he ran a 13.72@103 with decent weather. I dont see a lid and catback making you car almost run 12's in the 1/4 thats what i said was :bs: That sounds like a run with a little NOS. There are alot of people that try to make it sound like they didnt do anything to their cars to make them run fast. For example..there is a guy on another forum that tried to give me shit sayin my car was slow for the mods and sayin his car ran 13.30' with your same mods(unit213) on a 99a4 z28.

his times aren't :bs: my friend ran a 13.1 in his 02z a4 with only a lid and cat-back, and i know other people have done it too so it's not that hard to believe.

Re: Almost in the 12's

You ran a 12 second run without that headwind. 28 mph!? That's insane. Does it sustain that high? Also, how in the hell do you manage 35+ swings in air temperature like that? That's nuts!!

12.96 @ 106 1.9x 60 with lid, g-maf and dr's

Good time, btw I think the strong head wind is why his trap speed is low too.

Re: Almost in the 12's

Damn man, thats a great light you pulled on that run!!! Also your car was glued to the track with those tires. 8.2 @ 82 was a quick time with low mph which tells me that you were hooking like dryed super glue on fingers. Loose the head wind and get another light and 60' like that and you'll be 12's easy. Try loosing some weight if you havent already. (spare tire, jack, seats, etc.)

 Either you're confusing the cars you saw with LT1's, or you have the slowest bunch of LS1 powered cars I have ever seen. Stock LT1's will run high 13's, low 14's ... while stock LS1's run mid 13's all day long. There is NO WAY a LS1 f-bod with a lid and catback should be in the high 13's, unless there is a 100 knot headwind, you are at altitude, horrid track conditions, or there is a terrible driver at the wheel.

As unit was saying before, you also need to freshen up on your '03 cobra performance information ... it is way off. I have ran into a few, and they are pretty badass cars. Throw $500 worth of mods into it, and they become monsters.

Re: Almost in the 12's

My Z28 weighed 3650lbs with me in it too. I scaled the car and it weighed 3400lbs on the nose.
You doubt the almighty LS1? You know the bone stock record for an LS1 is 12.43 @ 110mph right? He's a member of this board. I can't remember what his name it. He posted about it a long time ago.

Like I said before, I have no reason to make up ET's. The only nitrous runs I made yielded mid 11's to low 12's depending on the pill size. I ran a 11.59 @ 121 with only a lid, catback, and a 150 shot. Do you call :bs: there too?

I hate to bust in with my .02 but you are very wrong in alot of ways.1st. I also went to the track this past weekend track is only 1000' so add about 3 sec max for this.
Rea..704
60':2.049
1/8:8.461@87.00
1000':10.373@99.46
2000 camaro ss, all that is done to my car is free mods, cutout, and nitto drs. Track conditions are always shit never sticky, sorry no wind or temps or anything like that, striaght run what ya brung no ifs or buts.
2nd Your knowledge of the 03 cobra is way off. Their faster than you or me and not by.2 either, those guys bone stock are running mid to low 10.xxx down here.
And besides if you dont like those track con. on kansas why not make the drive to KCIR off of Noland rd? Much better track IMO. Sorry for the rant and once again just my .02
