Default ls1 edit?

if i use the ls1 edit, will it help me if i have a completly stock car? im tryin to break past the 13.5, which i could probably do w/o it, but just wondering if it would help me in the 1/4mi. if it does does ne1 have any good settings for a stock '02 Z28? i dont know how it works, i would have to take it to a shop to do it

You might gain about 5 hp on a stock car. Automatics might gain some performance at the track with shift points and rev-limit adjustments however. Personally, I'd not waste that money to buy LS1EDIT for a stock car.

With a stock car it's still nice if you need to turn off various codes and TQ management, change fan settings, shift points (A4), and change the rev limit. You can bump the timing advance up and possible lean the mixture just a bit, if it happens to be rich, for a small performance gain. Don't expect sizable power gains since these cars are normally pretty close to being tuned spot-on even stock.

Where is the cheapest place to get LS-1 Edit from? It's very high on my list of future mods.

I'm in the same "boat". I just bought an 02 SS A4 and I'm looking for the easiest/cheapest way to turn on the fans sooner and tweak the shift points/firmness. Hypertech? What's the Diablo thing all about?

Thanks.

for a stock car i dont think its worth it. spend the 500+ on some better mods. ls1edit is an investment though, so if you plan on some heavy mods (i.e H/C) in the future then go ahead and get it.

carputing is the only place to get it. to use edit you'll need a scanning tool like autotap or efi live (which i recommend) and a laptop if you dont already have one. the full package to tune and log your car will run about 1k including laptop if you need it. its not cheap.

You can gain alot on a stock 02 car!! The stock timing on 01+02's is pathetic..On a stock 02 Z28 I got 20hp/12tq by mostly timing changes.

if you're planning on heavily modding your car, and are willing to take the time to learn properly, ls1edit is a great investment. otherwise, just go for a diablo, it will let you fiddle with enough to keep ya happy, and go for a dynotune when you mod your car enough. once you do heads/cam you'll definitely need a tune. just have to think about what you wanna end up doing in the long run.
