Question !air questions

Just bot an 02 SS A4. What is !air - assume it has something to do with emissions. Is it removing an air pump, or bypassing it? What's the benefit, any hp gain?

Thanks, great web site!

!air is the removal of the air pump system. no hp gains, just cleans up the engine bay and saves about 8lbs or something. i removed both my egr and air system.

i think passing cali emissions !air is kinda an ironic question...jrp's cam isn't designed much to pass emissions either lol. relocating the cats due to long tubes is also in violation of emissions standards "any modification of emissions equipment including relocation or removal" is kinda how the quote goes(not nearly exact lol so don't bust my chops). i would think its a mute point, plus u can always just run the tubes for looks come time...they typically don't know where the air pump is anyhow to check for it.
