Do you have a check engine light? If so, it may be your Camshaft Position Sensor. I have a friend that had a mouse chew threw the CPS wiring while his car was in storage over the winter. Started it that spring and no tach and then an SES light. Had the wiring fixed and everything was good to go. That may be one place to start.

I believe the garage that fixed my buddy's car had to remove the intake to get to the CPS/wiring in order to repair it. I hope this doesn't scare you. If it does happen to need to come off and you don't already have the LS6 intake, this would be a great time to upgrade. Kill two birds with one stone. Hope this helps. Good luck.

wow i had no idea the cps sensor would do that. i just had my car tuned and i asked the guy what my check enginbe light was on for he said it was the CPS and its not a big deal. i never though to link that to my tach not working....

so you think i need to take the intake off???
