Well I was shopping for a 5.3 to throw into my s-10 and ended up getting a killer deal on a complete 2007 L92. It has some valve/ pushrod issues, im not even sure exactly what yet because I havent pulled it apart. Also going to pick up an 08 L92 from an escalade I believe, it has a scored cylinder but everything is solid, $650 for both motors. So now I have been searching for info and im getting a little irritated. My intent was to build a turbo 5.3 but the L92s fell into my lap. I want to put boost to the L92 but the aluminum block is a concern. Im looking for information on what the block will safely put up with as far as HP goes, as well as what a crank will take.

IF the block werent a concern, my goal was going to be somewhere in the 700 hp range. New rods and pistons, most likely a crank depending on what the stock one is good for. Due to a lot of infuence from my dad, im leaning towards an intercooled procharger set up rather than the turbo. The heads are another story as well, and whatever I determine from reading on here, i will perform required supporting mods to the heads.

long story short, whats the block and crank good for?

Crank is good for about 1000 hp, the block can handle just as much as an iron block if you put a girdle on it.

oh and L92 heads... are absolute ****... I'll give ya $50 for both of them

so where might I find a girdle for this thing then?( point the newb in the right direction ) if thats the case, im going to up my target HP a ways...

I'd order from the sponsors, since they would get you a better deal, but there's a good example of an LSx girdle.
