Stock .. LQ9 with mild hand ported 317's and carb conversion Performer RPM manifold. Running propane for rock crawler. Also running a MSD 6010 and LT headers.

I'm currently in the market for a strong mid-range cam ... also trying to understand how duration/lift/LSA translate to Hp./Tq. in the power-band.

These cam specs intrigued me.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...-me-first.html This will help. I usually defer to the real knowledgable cam guys on here but I will say for your purpose a smaller duration cam will be better. Cubes, weight, RPM range, gearing, etc... all need to be considered.

Don't know if my spec. sheet will help you much as it's a bit different from most around here.

TH400 to 4-1 reduction transfer-case , custom super low flash Tq converter that stalls around 900-1,000 rpm.

4.88 diff gears, weight around 5,500 lbs....looking to make strong mid-range power. It needs to be strong between off idle to 5,600 or so.

From what I've read a low LSA brings the usable power range down but high lifts and long durations do just the opposite?

Low LSA brings the power up from what I've always seen...
