Default removing the catalytic conv on a 02 z28

Aloha! Not sure if I'm doing this right. I have an 02 z28 and thinking of removing the cat converter. I read the one about the chevy p/up truck removing his but wanted some input on doing it on an 02 z28. I'm sure that it will be louder, which I really don't mind, but is the hp gain significant?
Mahalo.

Just do it when/if you get longtube headers. Why do double work?

And about HP gains, I don't know if it's much with stock manifolds through stock exhaust though. What kind of mods do you have on there?

Yea man I would defiantly wait to remove the cats until you get LT's, At most I think you will see 4-5RWHP from that. Good Luck man

I wouldn't waste my time on it with stock manifolds. The gains just don't justify the trouble. Wait till you do some form of a header so that you have to do something with the setup anyways.

On a true dual setup I watched a guy dyno with then without cats and the difference was 2RWHP

Your car actually has two catalytic converters. I agree with everyone one else when it comes to removing them....I wouldn't do it unless you're installing long tube headers. Be forewarned that your exhaust will stink after the cats are removed.

Mahalo everyone for the quick reply. I now understand and will wait until I save up for the lt headers and cat back exhaust. I was thinking of dynatech's lt headers and borla's cat back exhaust.

Current mods are: ls1 whisper lid, kn filter, bmr tubular welded sfc, msd wires w/ ngk iridium plugs, kyb agx adj struts/shocks, and slp exhaust w/ dual tips (came off a friend's 02 ss who put had put in flowmaster cat back exhaust for the sound).

Aloha,

Yeah just wait and do everything at once, Longtubes and an ORY pipe.
