Default What If you cant avoid the water box?

Ok, @ the tracks I have been too it is almost impossible to avoid the damn water when getting on the track. I have new tires, should i burn them down to get the water off?

Spinning will get the water off the tires, but the real problem with going through the water with radials is because it slings the water up into the wheel wells. That in turn drips down the track and when you're staging.

Yup, just spin them to clear 'em.

And hope for the best.

Not much else you can do there.

How exactly is it almost impossible to avoid the water box? There's no little area around it so you can avoid it at all? I'd be pissed, tracks aren't just for cars with slicks.

At my track there is no way to avoid the waterbox if you have it. And yes they do like to spray the water everywhere.

Same problem at my track. The water's in a recessed speed bump from side to side, and can't get around it cause of the concrete barriers.
All you can do is spin'em clean, but not all that much water gets on your tires from just passing through. The guys with slicks usually spin'em in the water a little to get more water on their tires, then heat'em out of the water.

At our track here, they actually get PISSED OFF if you drive around the waterbox. I was like :wtf: You want water on the track?

Even on street tires, I usually give them a quick burn to clean the crap off them, but nothing more than about 3-4 seconds.

I think this should be as another good reason to get some DR's or slicks.

your only choise is to heat the tires real good, and burn off any extra water, after that jerk the car foward to the staging light to shake any extra water off from under your wheel wells
