SLP Dual/Dual vs. Hooker catback
I can get a used stainless SLP dual/dual from a shop here locally for $375 or I can buy a brand new Hooker catback online for 380 with free shipping. I am looking for a good sounding exhaust for a (basically) stock 98 Trans Am with pacesetter LTs with an ORY and no cats. I don't want it TOO loud.. which would you reccomend?

That dual/dual is a little overpriced. I've seen them recently in near-mint shape selling complete for $200. If you can get the dual/dual for anything under $300 then do it; it's fully stainless, sounds awesome with LT's and an ORY, and they're made to last. The Hooker is a little louder at idle and cruising speeds but screams at WOT. I loved mine on my old LT1. A few years ago the Hooker was $280 new and over time it shot up over $100; even with their notorious death rattle from the resonance chamber. Hooker's develop a rattle sound over time that comes from a small resonance tube inside coming apart. They only have two tiny tack-welds on them and they tend to break apart and the tube jingles around. Some make it 100,000 miles and some make it 2 weeks, lol. It's russian roulette.

yea I thought it was a little overpriced too, but I guess since they dont sell them anymore you can kinda up the price if you have one to sell haha. im leaning towards the hooker catback right now.

The SLP Dual/Dual was a $800 option i think.I have the CME which had the same mufller as the Dual/Dual w/ LT & Off Road y-pipe and the car sounds great. It will last a lot longer being stainless but try to get it a little cheaper.

I've been real happy with my Hooker catback. It sounds great at WOT, and startup, and idle. It doesn't drone too much on the highway, and it looks like it's going to last quite a while.

Your car does sound great Guy. Jamie and I were looking out the window of the store a while back and we saw you cruising quietly; just as we were starting to speak, someone pulled out in front of you and you hit WOT and it broke sideways and scared people in our store, lol.
