At the same time I also daily drive the car so i dont want my mpg to compleatly go to ****. any suggestions on a good cam or specs for one? its it even possible to have a nice lopy cam and keep some decent mpgs?
i was kinda looking at the MS3 any coments on that?

I've always been impressed with the Thunder Racing V.3 cheatr cam. It's more of a sleeper, not lopey like you may want, but will keep your mpg from going down the crapper. I've seen a few threads with people getting over 30rwhp from just the cam and a tune. I think I remember it being around 35rwhp for the couple people? If I remember correctly most of the big gain with that cam were in the upper rpm but with a cam package consisting of hardened push rods, bumping up the rev limiter higher wouldn't be a problem.

MS3 is an all out topend cam for 346 cid at 237/242. You really need more gear than a 3.42 if you want any lowend grunt... I like the EPS lobes so I would look hard at Geoffs 222/226 grind or maybe this LSR 227/235 cam if you decide a little bigger.>> http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...csid=1402&sb=0 It uses the LSL lobes which are a stable lobe like the EPS cam.

I too am wanting to cam soon.. it is a DD however if i wanted to tame it down i wouldnt want to cam it in the first place, why would you want a "milder" cam out of curiosity? ing Also what would be the ball park range for a cam, pushrods, springs, ect.. Not trying to hijack, hopefully these are questions the OP might have as well..

If you are just looking for sound, then take a look at Thunder Racing's Thumper cam. I believe the specs are 219/233 .553/.536 109 LSA

On my last TA I used a FMS cam... it was 226/226 .575/.575 112+4 LSA. It was very good as a DD and pulled great up to 6800rpm. It also had a good lope with the 112+4.
The TA I have now has the MS3 in it. I'm not sure I'd want it as a DD, but I'm sure you'd be fine so long as you had a good tune for it.

I would recommend looking at the 228R if you are looking for a healthy DD cam. With your car being manual it will be extrememly easy to drive the car once tuned, and with a 112 LSA it will have a nice choppy idle but nothing crazy where the car would stall out. There are tons of guys running this cam out there because it has been proven time and time again over the years. Give us a call if you would like to go over it, we have a number of cam specs that we could recommend you.
