Default Help goal of 6.8-6.9's in 1/8th

my goal for my new build for my 99T/A is to run 6.8's in the 1/8th mile before power adders. What i have now is toasted, cammed, stalled, bolt on, A4 ls1 that ran 8.08 with a 1.83 60'.
I will start with any block that will get me those times, i am not picky but my budget is around 5k so keep that in mid. I am not against and iron block but i think less weight would only help on the nose.

I would like to keep my headers, and stall (because i can get it adjusted to whatever i want), but the rest is on the table for everyone to pitch in. The cam i have was a 224/230 .580 .588 on 114 and i never sprayed it even though it was begging for it but i will be going custom grind most likely.

If you need more info let me know

5 grand may be hard to do with the numbers your talking, and also depends on what power adder you plan on doing after you reach your goal. Your going to need a big cam like the MS4 from TSP, top of the line heads, lots of suspension, lots of weight reduction, gears, supporting mods and of course the bolt ons...

how big of stall do you have?what rear gears?what suspension mods, lca,tq arm,etc...look for a 6.0 and add a better valve train ,and induction set up.go to the 10.00 section and see what it takes to run that fast.

stall is 3500 built for my old cam but i can send it back and get it adjusted to whatever i need. I lave LCA's, subframes, drag radials, 3.42's but i think ill run a 3.90 ish size with my new rear 9" unless i can find a 12bolt for a good price.

MY 8 sec pass was on drag radials, stall, cam, 853 heads and 116k miles shifted into third like 150 feet from the trap...so could be a tad bit faster. Also my old cam was a boost/spray cam...the guy that had it before me dynoed 225hp on a 175wet shot so those were my intentions

maybe a 427 with some L92's i have been tossing around but i bet that would just be a bad *** burnout car.

No way you are doing a good 427 with only 5k. You might be able to do a short block and re-use your heads, cam, etc. but it would really choke down the setup.

this.....re-cam, p&p heads, gears, up the stall and take out as much weight as you can....then add a little n2o, you'll be golden

well i can get the short block 427 for $3500 and milled L92's with the L76 intake for $900 and im sure there are many other things that will $100 me to death but i dont see it going way over $5000-5500. but this is why i ask on the boards to find out from people that actually know and have been there...

Do you think a 383 out of my block would get me my times? maybe with some 225cc dart pros?
