Default Shift Kits?

I have a 98 TA with stock automatic transmission.
id like to get a Shift Kit installed in it.When I called the race shop in my city they said they can Tune my car and it will do the exact same thing as a Shift Kit.
Is this true?
Would it be better to get a Shift Kit and a Tune?
I'm still learning so all help is appreciated!

Chirping tires is average on a crisp shift. Just because its doing that, don't start worrying about something breaking. Thats all part of the game man!

Up to you, Ive never found a need for a shift kit...Id worry about bolt ons/stall/tune first.
