Default X-pipe vs H-pipe

Hey im new to the ls1.

I just bought a 1999 camaro z28 with 54k on it, and im really looking to get a exhaust system and dont know what set-up will sound the best and give most torque, breathing and horsepower.

i have heard that H pipe allows more torque, but the X pipe allows more horsepower and breathing is this true?

Im looking for dual Flowmasters maybe the super44?

Do long tube headers to TSP true duals. If I had a Camaro I would dump the exhaust before the axle. They just don't look good with tips unless it's the CME, imo.

I love my X pipe. My true duals sound great IMO..here's a vid from my friend's phone of my exhaust. Forgive the massive lack of traction, it was like 30* out. X pipe + dynomax bullets.

Flowmasters are like Loudmouths in a way. People either love them or hate them. There is no middle.

Best sound will come from true duals with no crossover at all, IMO. H-pipe will be the second best sound (and very close to straight duals), and X-pipe will be the most mellow/smooth and different of the three. Don't get me wrong, all will sound good, but the most muscular note will come from no crossover.

Now, best power is a different discussion. If that is your primary goal, the three options above fall in reverse order, with X-pipe being the top choice, H-pipe being a close second, and straight duals last.

I had a bassanni true dual exhaust with an X pipe and it sounded awesome. It costs an arm and a leg but the sound is good.

I've heard that "X" pipes make more power & "H" pipes make more power than a conventional Y-pipe but less than "X" pipe and apperently an "H" pipe sound better...

Ok i called the exhaust shop, and from talk this guy is the 'best' in town......He said "I can make custom X-pipe to fit your car.......BUT The clearance may be a factor because your car is really low.....I would need to get it up on a lift to make sure?????

I really like the sound of the dynomax bullets.

If he wants more than 460 for just an x pipe to bullets dumped, I would say no, unless you really like the guy. The TSP system is tried and true.
