Hi guys,
My engine is a 98 LS1 so it has the perimiter bolt valve covers. My understanding is I will need new valve covers and coil brackets. I figure I would call some salvage yards and see if they have any but what year and make vehicle should I ask for the valve covers to be from? Silverado and trailblazer ss?

Basically any gen 3 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0 from 99 and up will have ones that will fit. Trucks, SUVs, f-bodies, GTOs, Vettes, after-market, Chinaman ebay versions. Jeez your options are almost endless.

Cool, I thought I read there were clearance issues with some of the f-body ones fitting. The part number was replaced with a new one and I think that one works fine but one of an early model center bolt valvle cover may have issues. Not sure if true or not.

I picked mine up on here for $50 painted red. Sanblasted them with a $4 bag of playsand and they look just like a $200 set of new GM VC's

I would definitely try and find someone selling a used set and cleaning them up. New from GM the valve covers are $85+ each! Then you still need valve cover brackets. Find them used and save some money!

Thanks guys. Picked up a pair with the coil pack brackets for $45 thanks to a friend that works at an auto recyclers
