Tranny going out, T56 swap for auto?
Is it a little unreasonable to swap in a 6 speed tranny and replace the stock A4? My tranny has been making weird noises and i'm just starting to think about it before it happens so i can have a plan of attack. Thanks guys in advance.

You should do it. My tranny is pretty much done for and i am in the process of swapping over to the t56 also. Check out the parts classifieds as some of the swap parts come by pretty cheap for the most part (pedals, crossmember, etc.) The tranny itself can be pretty pricey to some so be sure to shop around a good bit and make your best judgement. Good luck!

$2-$3K depending on how much stuff is new or used. Your going to pay $1200-$1900 for a trans depending on if you get rebuilt or used. A good clutch kit is at least $400 and can cost over $1K for a good one. You would still need a pedal assembly, Clutch master, cross member, shifter, top half of the console, wire harness, flywheel and im sure there are some parts I am missing.

depends what you want to do. If you want a fun 6 speed car to drive around or maybe do autoX or some kind of corner track racing M6 is the way to go, If you want a consistant drag car then auto is the way to go. For the price of a stock t56 swap, u can get yourself a nice built auto thats reliable for DD and racing. I would choose auto but thats my opinion.
Good luck with which ever route you take man.
