a-4 burnouts (power braking) safe?
So besides just flooring it from a stop, Holding down the brake until about 2,000 or more rpm will acheive a good burnout I've read.....Never did it myself cause I baby the **** outta my car, but for those who have, does it work well? or is it too much wear on brake pads and engine load?

i use to do it all the time that way before i installed a line lock.
it beats up your rear brakes and puts more strain on your engine doing brake stands
with a line lock virtually the only thing your wasting is tires and gas
they usually go for about $150 for a name brand one, well worth it IMO if you want to do some smoky burnouts

Probably worth mentioning that with worthless sumitomo summer tires, after headers ORY and tune, braking was no longer needed for a burnout. It wouldn't work to warm up a set of drag radials, but with street tires and street surfaces, the car isn't going anywhere if I mash the pedal from a dead stop, whether I intended it or not.
I've had a couple embarassing moments at stoplights.

I like my tires a little too much to do a standing burnout. Ive had my car for nearly 3 years now and i havent done it yet! Well the occassional hard acceleration type of burnout yes...but a standing burnout...eehh....i rather not till i get a better rear end lol

I used to do brakestands all the time, mainly when im racing my buddy through the backroads and I get way ahead, ill come to a stop light them up for a good 30 seconds and take off again, he has to come to a stop and wait for the smoke to clear before he goes again. But it has taken a pretty nasty toll on my rear brakes. I haven't done one in a while now.

Line locks are better. I used to do brake stands all the time in my firebird, but after a while, it warped my rear rotors. And if you do it too much, there won't be anything left of your tires.
