Exclamation Camaro interior 1997-2002

Are the 1997 camaro interior the same as 1998-2002 in terms of the dash? I thought the early 4th gen camaros interior were all the same until the ls1 was introduced which also brought changes to the interior...I need to know because I am trying to find dash trim for a camaro and will look into the 1997 camaros if they are the same

1997 used the same dash trim and design as the '98-'02 Camaros. However, the coloring used from '97-'99 (Dark Gray) is not the same as '00-'02 (Ebony).

I am trying to find the dark gray dash trim off a parted camaro. hmmmm thanks for the reply I really appreciate it. I will look into the 1997-1999 camaros. Do you know if thats the most common color for those years ( dark gray)?

Are we talking about the top dash trim with the defroster vent? Nothing else about the dashes looks the same from a 97 LT1 body and a 98-02 LS1 body style.

The interior of the 1997-2002 camaros are the same. The only difference is the change of dash color.

Actually, in terms of the dash pieces, Dark Gray is the *only* color in those years. Even if the seats were tan/white, the dash would have still been Dark Gray.

Correct. It's the '96 and older Camaros that received the early 4th gen style interior.

That's ok. As this is not LT1Tech, you are forgiven.

Pretty sure the steering wheel was the same in 1993-1997 and 1998, wasn't till 1999, maybe even 2000 that the Camaro got an updated steering wheel.

The cluster gauge changed from 1997 to 1998.

As mentioned above, Camaros before 2001 did not have black, they were gray.

Some corrections/clarifications:

The updated steering wheel (with radio controls) was released in 2000. A '99 Camaro has the same steering wheel as the '98 and earlier.

No, the change was from '98 to '99. The temp gauge went from starting at 160° ('97-'98) to starting at 100° ('99-'02)

No, the change to black (Ebony) was in 2000. '97-'99 were Dark Gray, '00-'02 were Ebony.

Any suggestions for taking spray paint off plastic? I need a thinner or something. The previous owner of my camaro had the dumb idea to spray paint the dash trim shiny black and made the interior really tacky. I need something that will take the paint off but wont harm the original.

If you need any more charcoal parts, I have everything from a 1997 Camaro SS in Charcoal for sale. Dash is already removed from the car and ready to go, other parts can be pulled as needed. It is a manual car as well.

i thought the "updated" steering wheel was basically just a trans am steering wheel that had a bowtie instead of a ponitac logo?

Correct. All birds from 93 up had the same steering wheel. I think birds had steering wheel controls as an option from 93 on. Camaro's didn't get That option till 00

Ok i have a 2001 z28 and wanted to change the interior color. Right now it is tan with a black dash. This it my idea. Keep the black dash, a pillars, t tops, and center console.put in black carpetand for the rest oof the trim put in the dark grey trim. All the speaker covers would be black and the leather and the door handles and there bezels would be black also.and then maby a small old school script camaro emblem on bother the leather parts on the door panels. And maby a pair of aftermarket race seats. Thought this looked good in my head just want to know what yall think bout it. Also the head liner would be black also. Thanks for any imput guys.

Does anybody know if the steering wheel from the 1998 SS would fit the 2000? I'm not a fan of the one with the radio controls, and they're useless with an aftermarket system, anyway. Thanks!
