I put in the 5.75 qts right to the full mark.

Those of you bashing Fram should take a look at the Fram Ultra Guard. It really is a quality filter, and a bargain at Walmart prices.

Those of you running the longer filter, aren't you a little worried about it bottoming out, as it sticks down below the oil pan?

if you manage to take out that 1" of oil filter sticking down, you probably have also taken out plenty of other stuff under the car.

i once didn't pay attention and put in over 7 qts, not sure how much but I was well over 1" above the full mark on dipstick and definitely noticed it when the engine was running. an oil change i usually do 6 to 6.5 qts and keep oil level not more than 1/2" over the full mark hot, measuring right after shutting engine off. that way you know the crank isn't whipping into the oil.
