holes in bottom of ls1 intake
I just acquired an ls1 intake for my 5.3. When I cleaned it, I noticed that when I look down the TB opening I can see light coming through the three holes in the bottom of the intake. I'm assuming that shouldn't happen as the intake should be sealed from the outside. It looks like I could easily plug the holes. Can someone tell me what these holes are for and confirm they should not be open to the atmosphere. Thanks

Yeah, these are the holes that are molded into the intake. They are on the bottom side. I have looked at other intakes online and they all have the same three holes. They are the opening to long vertical tubes but a have a small gap between the base and the vertical tube. Seems they should not have the gap otherwise air will enter without going through the MAF sensor. Definitely not NOS.

Thats what I thought. It looks as if the columns separated from the bottom. The gaps are very small so I think I can easily seal them up with some epoxy or resin. Thanks for the info.
