Default Getting to 150MPH stock. Can it be done?

I've had it to 120MPH a few times just because, and last night on the highway I had an awesome opening in which I took it to 130MPH but because it was so noisy and the top felt like it was gonna fly off I backed out of it.

Has anyone done it stock? And is my top safe lol? This is my first LS1/t-top car.

Bone stock to the limiter (160 I believe) a few times... 150 is easy really, I believe these cars can touch 170mph with the limiter removed in stock form. Finding a 'safe' place to do it is not easy.

No reason to go that fast on a public road, and its not good for the car.

A buck fiddy is certainly doable with stock LS1.

I hit the limiter and the GPS said 162.3 with only a lid & catback. Was really scary though because the frontend felt very light. feels much better and controlled with the Strano springs, bars and Konis on it now. Broke 174 with my old H/C/I stock bottom motor and haven't tried a long pull on this motor yet....

And yes, you can go over 150, did plenty of times when my ride was completely stock.

You chill. Of course I speed. Going over 150MPH on a public street is stupid especially when OP has no idea what the car can do which means he has no experience at high rates of speed in his car. Not only can he hurt himself but someone else.

i 2nd this, listen there is speeding and then there is doing well over 100 mph, i can see if your making a run on a open highway with noone around but i hope your not pushing 150 plus when people are around, when we run i think we go to about 100, 50 past that is getting sketchy

I make all my top end runs down Main Street at 5:00PM.

C'mon son! Of course I don't attempt 150MPH with cars around, what kind of moron would do that? The worst I have ever done (as far as traffic around) is 100MPH merging onto the Interstate when I first got the car and it got there way faster than I anticipated. Since then the most I've done around traffic is about 80MPH, again, merging and cruising.

I try to be safe, as contrary as that sounds to 150MPH, but I have my fun as well. I will NEVER endanger the life of someone else because of my stupidity.

Nope 162 . Yes they will do it/ yes you should have your car up to spec mechanically/ and no don't do it if your car shakes and shimmies already. Don't think that you can always take a decade + old fbody and run it's stock estimated max speed without making sure everything is up to snuff. Don't want to see another fbody wrote off, nor another fellow member. You can kill yourself real quick, know this. We all have fun but just remember that, coming from experience.

its one thing if you have an idea what your car can do, but someone that doesnt know much can put himself in danger fast, its like a 16,17 year old taking his buddys for a ride going a 150 just doesnt sound smart to me, yes we were all young and dumb at that age, now we are just a lil less dumb , but serious when is that last time you jumped on the highway and nailed it to top speed lol i know i have never done that, and if i do it will be at a mile event

I appreciate the concern guys, I really do. However, this isn't my first rodeo with 100+ and it was actually my old GT that took me the fastest I've ever been, which was 135. Trust that I don't take 100+MPH joyrides with my buddies unless their over 18 and request such (because I have). I also do NOT street race with people in the car or others around. And finally, I'm not taking a ragged out car with crappy suspension 100+.

166 on GPS. Limiter removed LT's, ORY and Stock catback. Didn't try for more.

Edit: BTW this was 3 A.M. with no one around.
