Default SS or fake

Okay so I know WU8 is the code to know if its a real ss or not, but is there by any chance that a 1998 car could be a real ss and not have that code? I'm really doubting it but I'd like to be 100% positive
thanks

Yes.

No.

Having said that, just make sure that the VIN on the SPID sticker matches the car's VIN. It's possibile that the door could be from another car, and thus the wrong sticker is present. But if the VIN matches, and there is no WU8, then there is no possibile way that the car was originally an SS.

What RPM WS6 said is correct. But with that said if the car is put together well I wouldn't let that deter you from buying it. I just wouldn't pay SS price for a Z/28

Check the VIN the door may have been swapped, if that's the case you need to dig deeper anyways and find out why.

No, it is not possible for a car to be an SS and not have this code. But like the guys said above, check the VIN. Doors can be swapped pretty easily.
