Default Ws-9

I've recently browsed online classifieds and discovered "factory looking" badges that say WS-9. can anybody tell me if this was an actual production car , and if so , what's the difference between the WS-6?

Its a Formula...the ws6 starts of as a formula and then goes to slp for the upgrades. Which then becomes a ws6 after the upgrades.

WS9 is the RPO code for a V8 firebird. All Firebird Formulas have WS9 but require W66 to make it a Formula, if WS4 was checked then it became a Trans Am. The WS9 emblem you seen is not a factory part tho.

That's more in-depth to what I said...I also learned something new. Thanks Jeremy

SLP did not make the WS6 for the LS cars, it was done by ASC....SLP did the WS6 cars that were LT1 equipped, and also did the SS Camaros (both LS1 and LT1)

Y82 is the correct RPO for the Trans Am package. It would be WS9 & W66 for a Formula, and WS9 & Y82 for a Trans Am (LS1 years).

WS6 could be added to W66 cars ('98-'00) and to Y82 cars ('98-'02).

Thanks for catching my goofup. You are correct. I got my RPOs switched in the generations. WS4 is the old Norwood Ohio RPO code.

Wasnt the 'ws9' emblem added by several dealerships to the ws6 packaged TA's? I dont remember their justification in calling it a ws9 though. Interested in this myself.

To my knowledge the WS9 emblem was never installed by any dealership. It was designed far later by an aftemarket company.

As far as I know a WS7 emblem means aftermarket WS6. Never seen a WS9 though.

I've never heard of such. There would be no reason to do this, since the WS6 package was a step above the WS9 option in the first place.

This is why Chevy has always kept it simple and used two identical letters (SS) for us to find our cars when we leave Wal-Mart.
