hi guys thanks for looking...i lost to this charger a couple weeks ago..he wants a rematch...my car only has some kind of made in china air intake...so really im bone stock...did my launch suck? whats the proper way to launch in a A4 ..when i hit the gas do i floor it right away or gradually press the gas firmly till i reach the floor? also i kept getting loose at the line so i loose a lot of time there gaining back control...

What tires? What was your 60 ft? You should be able to cut a 2.0 or 1.9 sixty ft.

Best way I've found to launch is stall up to 1000-1500 just to get the slack out of the driveline then mash it to the floor. Let the converter flash.

you want to floor it if there is traction.get some drag radials and a mail order tune from frost.get some good 92+ octane unleaded gas ,don't add octane boost.remove the air filter for the race ,and clean the MAF with MAF cleaner.stuff like better shocks and other suspension parts can help traction with stock street tires.

i use the best stuff chevron got..should i switch to shell?or?
so will these drag radials put to much stress on my 4l60e and my 10 bolt..i tried to skip the water box but theres damn near no way around it without getting some tires wet...i hear i shouldnt be doing burnouts will my 4l60e in stock form...or is a little heat okay?just to get the water off my tires before the line ......is frost a member here?

Go ahead and go through the water box, just do enough of a burnout to get the tires warm and dry. Then hold the brake, bring the revs up to about 1300 RPM and as soon as the last yellow light flashes, take your foot off the brake and mash on the gas. I cut consistent 2.0 sixty's on 245/50R16 street tires doing this. It also won't hurt to drop your tire pressure to about 25psi.

Getting the sixty down is the key and the guy above has the right advice for street tires. Once the car hooks and leaves its all about holding your foot down and letting the car do the work.

Get down to the 2.0 range and you'll see a big difference in your et.

Doing a burnout is fine with the 10bolt, its when you have traction and it hooks up that causes things to break.

Okay ill try.heating up my tires more and then maybe I wont get loose....whats the safest way of doing a burnout with a A4? Do I start in 2nd,d, or overdrive when im holding the brake and slowly let the RPMs rise till I break loose.....once I break loose do I release the brake.....or could I stay on the brake for 5 seconds or so?I have no line lock...no shift kit that I know of...but first going to second gives me a good jolt ....would there be a way to tell if it did have one?

I would only burnout for a quick burst through first gear or so. Street tires don't hook well if you burn them up too much. I don't even do it enough to get smoke going. Like I also said I lowered the tire pressure to about 25psi as well on the rear. Also make sure you get in the grooves (The dark black area from past cars heading down the track). That is where most of the traction is. Hope this helps. You may still have a little spin, but you should be able to cut a 2.0xx 60' time has longs as your tires have decent tread. Just FYI, track prep makes a difference too.

Just FYI. Here is a vid of one of my runs from about a year ago. This is with a BBK SSI intake, Hooker Catback, 330lb driver, and Firestone 245/50R16 Firehawk Wide Oval tires. This was a 2.0xx 60'.
