Default Blinker problem

For the past week or so my blinkers have been operating very oddly. When
I turn on th left blinker, I will blink every few seconds then go off for
about 15 seconds, both on the dash and outside. The right will work sporadically every 3-6 seconds and then stop. Is this a flasher problem? If so, where is it located so I can replace it.

FYI All bulbs are functioning otherwise.

Thanks

Recompile the kernel...
Just kidding.

Sounds like a broken wire. Sometimes the wires in the stalk start to come apart. Just a hypothesis.

Nice Linux refernce.

Back to the issue at hand.....
It could be a faulty wire (as technical suggested) or the flasher itself could be to blame. Do you get the same problem with the Hazards? The hazards use a separate blinker module. (left/right uses one module, hazards use another) If it is the blinker module, its hidden by the shin panel under the steering wheel. Once you remove that, you should see them.

Since the hazards work fine, then that rules out a wiring issue. Just replace the signal flasher and that should clear up your problems.

Just pop off the panel under the steering wheel and it is on the right side. Just unplug it and replace it.

not to sound ignorant (I sure feel it) but on the stalk itself or down lower just above the pedals, knee area?

Under the steering wheel, the shin/knee area (not the stalk, but the lower dash).

People usaully have a hard time finding it so here's a pic I had taken a while back for another person. The stock one will not be yellow, and all you will be able to see from this angle is the clip. Napa makes a great heavy duty flasher for $10.

Should be two screws up top (one which you already got the other is on the opposite side), and then their are two bolts twards the bottom (they are like 8mm). When you take the panel out pull it on the same angle that it's mounted at because it has little tabs at the top.
