Default Home built 8.8?

Whats the avg power this things can hold up to? Are they worthing the time and effort or would it be better to to just buy a moser 9" thats ready to bolt in?

I have an 8.8 out of a ford exploder and had it worked on. The shop that did mine said it will be good for 500 whp as it sits and with a few upgrades hold a good load. From the stuff I've looked at these are right under a gm 12 bolt in terms up what they can handle. Can't beat the price that's for sure I got mine for $150.

They are pretty damn strong, I know of some cars pushing 650 through them with minor modifications.

i'm sitting at 500 now with plenty room to grow so i guess i might be better off just going with a 9" to be on the safe side

Hmmm. I haven't heard anything good about the C clip 8.8s from the 4wd side of things. I hope the car ones are better.
