Question Rear Bumper Removal

I wasn't really sure where to post this, so here goes... I want to take the rear bumper cover off and possibly the support brace under it. Is there a write up on how to do this? I was under the car and took off the obvious bolts, but no luck. I know it sounds silly, but I don't want to damage the fascia trying to force it. Thanks! Ben"not really a newbie"Russick

Good question, I'm interested also . . . planning to remove the rear bumper to shed some weight.

You might want to look and see how close your fuel tank is to the rear of your car. if you remove your rear bumper there is not much protecting it if someone rearends you! not very safe thing to do! just my oppinion though.

Take your front bumper off, that way you loose some weight where it needs to be removed.

I've already taken the front bumper support off and it weighed about 20 lbs. I don't drive the Z28 often, so I'm really not so concerned about safety... Thanks anyway!

the bumper supports are only good up to 5mph... they are not really protecting anything...
the fasia comes off first. look under the car and all the way around where the fasial meets the car... there are skrews and plastic pop rivits...
also open your trunk. take up the carpet... there are pop rivits and bolts there too...
after taking out the back bumper support i would move your battery to the trunk to put weight back over the back tires(where you want it)

the bumper support weights about 30 lbs the battery weights 40 lbs
thats 110 lbs of weight transfer
and 30 lbs of weight loss...
it helps GOBS

Thanks! I did not think to look in the trunk. No wonder I couldn't get the thing off! I'll give it a shot this weekend. Laters! Ben
