Is your LS1 tired or broken in some way necessitating replacement? Otherwise you will end up with iron block(extra lbs) in almost all 6.0 motors and 0.3 liters just doesn't seem worth it.

Your accessory setup, intake, etc. should bolt on(truck setup will not fit under your hood). Some of the more experienced folks can give you recommendations on computer, transmission. What transmission is it?

not really I mean it still runs good I was just trying to get a project goin and see what all ways I could go and make more power out of the car and I figured by doin that right off hand if have more bottom end torque in it but I just wasn't too sure. but it's the t56 trans.

I think it will all basically bolt up save for some older 6.0s having a strange length crank requiring a spacer. It would be neat to say you have a 6.0 but real world I think you would be better off saving the (75?) lbs and getting cam, LS6 intake, tune, and exhaust. That setup would smoke a stock 6.0. And you would want to do those same things for a 6.0 to run really well anyway so it's not money wasted if you end up with a 6.0 later.

I look at it like this: 6.0 - 5.7 = .3. .3 / 5.7 = .0526.
So for all of that work and some extra weight, the motor is only 5.3% larger.
Cam, intake, exhaust, tune you can probably do on the cheap at about $1000-$1500 and gain 50 crank HP. let's guess that you have 350 crank HP now.. 50/350 = .1428. So for a lot less work you get 14.3% more power. And then if you are really just after that stump-pulling torque, a small nitrous setup would get you that pretty cheap.

That's my $0.02. I am not trying to beat you up as having a 6.0 does sound a lot cooler than a 5.7 but I'm the guy that would rather have the 5.7 and leave the guy with the 6.0 scratching his head looking at my taillights. That being said, I almost never ever do what common sense or smart people tell me to do so have fun whichever route you go. :-)

haha. I heard that. well I'm not really that big on nitrous but I was just thinking that if I worked with the 6.0l I could do more to it and make the greater power than the ls1. I guess I'm looking at it like te ls1 is just at the bottom of the food chain. I drove a stock 04-06 gto and it just made me realize that my car ain't nowhere close to that in a stock manner so I wanted to get closer to it and I figured I would have more options to go with even tho it maybe highly costly in the end with the 6.0l. I was just thinking of goin ahead and buying the motor and building it on the side and until I gt tire way I wanted it then drop it in one weekend. and have a beast ya know. change the gears do a little transmission rebuilding along te way as well. just to wake it up and make it work with the higher power ratios.

This is my plan. Build the 6.0 and then sell my ls1. Granted I'm planning to boost after it's built. Good luck with your build

well if built right how much power can I make out of the ls1 compared to the 6.0? cause I would prefer having straight motor rather than nitro. boost I have considered but that would take me a long time to save up that kinda money given I have a half *** decent job in a small town. but I would think I could have more capabilities to make more out of the bigger motor but idk if it would hold the rpms like the small block.

The 6.0 isn't going to make a lot more hp than a LS1 if the the top end and compression are the same, but the tq will be better with it overall
