LS style steering shaft and rack swap
Forgive me if this is in the wrong place, I'm a new member and haven't used a forum in the past.
I own a 96 Firebird Trans Am that had about 9 degrees of play in the wheel. I tracked the problem down to the rag joint. I know of a rag joint eliminator by Unbalanced Engineering; however, I would like some input from those that have been there and done that about an LS style rack and intermediate shaft installation.
My questions were:
With the LS rack and intermediate shaft, will I have to reclock anything to keep the wheel straight with the LT1 column?
I also wanted to know if there is a preferred outer tie rod to use with the new rack.
Finally, it would be helpful to hear about any problems that I will run into during installation.
If y'all could inform me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
