scan tool I need a basic scan tool. any recommendations. I don't want to go to autozone everytime.

I saw the thread on the handheld tuners. I am talking about just a scanning tool. I will get getting dyno tunes locally and don't plan on tuning myself.
I am open to getting one of those tuners only if was just a few bucks more than a scanner, but i don't think that is the case.

not trying to upsell ya, but i got the scangauge 2, and its been great. keep mounted above rearview mirror, use as trans temp, intake temp, etc etc gauges, and when a code pops up u can read and clear instantly. handy. and u can make any color to match interior, million other functions. good investment. about 150 bucks, but worth it.

I use the Torque App also. I really like it. Have used it on a few buddies rides to check engine lights. The main reason I got it though was to keep an eye on engine temps in my Camaro because the stock gauge sucks. Also im pulling my SxS pretty much every other week with my truck so I needed a way to keep an eye on my transmission temps in the truck.

It is very easy to use and I have loaned it out several times to friends, who are not all car guys, and they have read their codes fine. I am going to buy another one with the USB upgrade ability because I am finding unknown codes that the old tool doesn't recognize occasionally.
