Default 2000 Camaro SS Alternator

Well...... my alternator went out. I need to buy a new one anyone knows of a forum sponsor who sells ? or a great website to buy for a decent price?
I can easily run down to my local auto parts store and get one but I rather try here first & support a sponsor or buy from a good suggested website.

if you post in the wanted section you can get a used oem one for cheap. I bought one for 30 bucks and run it over a year no issues just a thought.

Just get it rebuilt if you can park the car to get it fixed.

if you do a alternator thread search theres a gm truck alt 145 amps (aprox $135) that many posters like. i went with TSP (texas speed) mechman 150 alt aprox $200. cheers. if planning on an under drive pulley someday get an over drive alt pulley (imo).

I would stick with either GM or Powermaster, or a local rebuild shop if you know of a good one. I've never had good luck with the chain auto parts store rebuilds.

I've never had a problem with Advance Auto or Autozone alternators or starters plus they have lifetime warranties. I prefer Autozone simply because they have more stores and they are everywhere, If my alternator dies 5hrs from home I'll have my car towed to the nearest AZ and replace it in there parking lot. I'd also consider using the 145a SUV alternator. If you want the cheapest option check RockAuto $85 or $125 for a 145a one.

I had two GM 145 amp alternators in the car and neither of them worked well. I had upgraded them to supply more power to the car and just ended up putting the stock one back. Expensive lesson.
