'03 Cobra HP Question
I'm a bit confused about the HP output of this car:
Is it 390HP at the Crank?
or
390 HP at the wheels?
Also, with my mods and the newly ordered Nittos. How would I fair against a lightly modded one? Lightly meaning exhaust and maybe a pulley change?

It's rated 390hp at the crank but just like the LS1 F-bodies many of the '03/'04 Cobras are under rated. Some have dyno'd as high as 380hp+ at the wheels (over 425 at the crank) but others have dyno'd as low as 330/340rwhp (rare)...the average is around 365rwhp I think.
You should fair well against a lightly modded one, might come down to driver skill.

Wow, the first three posts we all got in at the same time. I say your best bet is to practice launching/shifting and put those nittos to good use from a dig if you race a stock or lightly modded 03/04 Cobra.

It depends on what he has done to the cobra. I know people that have not done much to a '03 cobra (just the RIGHT things) and are making 500RWHP, you gotta remember, they have a forged bottom end and that makes just about anything possable to do to these cars straight from the factory.
I vote this: If the guy has done the right things and can drive, You'll get owned.

We dynoed one late last year. He had programming and exhaust and he put down ~430RW.

My son has 03 conv (4000 with 150 # driver) pulley, exhaust, chip , nitto' @448 hp with only 900 miles runs 11.88 @ 117 mph,(when he can find hole to put the shifter in) drops me about 1-1 1/2 cars most time when he can shift
I would never think of promoting a Ford on a GM forum, but for the courious ( and brave at heart ) click below

I saw a 03/04 Cobra at the track run a 11.87 @ 118.xx with a low 1.7 60ft on Nittos . His mods were programming, pulley for the blower, and exhaust. His only weight reduction was the back seats were out. Trapping 118 in a 3500-3700 pound car is strong!
We ran but he did not have enough to take me.
I think the cars are about equal. It will come down to the driver. Good luck.

365 rwhp on average. From a dig, if you launch you will leave him behind. Remember that those Cobras suffer from horrible wheel hop with that IRS. Up top, you are looking at a different story. They really shine in the top end, and their power gear is 3rd. If he has a chip and pulley...things will get ugly. As for exhaust and intake, it is not un common for just those two things to put the car a 410 rwhp or more. With your times in the 1/4 yous should do about even with one though. The Eaton blowers on those cars are absolite heat machines, and in hot weather they run a little more sluggish.
