Default Effectiveness and Price of JAAM kits 2014

Before anyone tells me to just do a search, trust me, I have. All of the threads are 8 years old. So I'm going to make a new one to hopefully help anyone else trying to make a decision. Are the JAAM kits for the WS6 still a good piece like they used to be? I've noticed that the price of them used to be comparable to the popular FTRA, so the FTRA was always the better option in the past. BUT nowadays they are like $100 from WS6store. Have they fallen off in quality and popularity or just better ways to produce them that lowers costs? Anyone currently running one that would recommend it? Give me some advice!

Thanks

Honestly I have had both with that being said prefer my FTRA, just seems like it gets more air to the filter. Thiers alot of nice kits out thier like the SSRA and the Chris1313 I went with the FTRA because I found it in the forsale section for a decent price, but wouldnt be afraid to use either of those two.

The concept behind the JAAM seems legit, and I don't see a problem with hydrolocking by sucking in a few droplets which will hit the air filter, and essentially just evaporate into the engine (water is a byproduct of combustion btw). I like the thought of using my hood for its intended purpose, but there aren't enough threads based on the performance of a JAAM kit, but many many on the FTRA and SSRA. Bottom feeder kits seem alright, and I could fab up a block off plate for them for inclement weather, but I wouldn't want to have to install/uninstall said plate just because it's a torrential downpour.

These cars are bottom feeders cant deny the results. As for the rain I have driven through some pretty heavy weather here in Florida with no problem at all (have not to this day used the block off plate), but then again I have a K&N filter and that is cleaned/oiled regularly. Only thing is with the high rise lower air box on you WS6 you might not get the full benefit of the FTRA due to the added gap.

Here is a good article to read on the FTRA.

Looking for input on the current JAAM kit and why it's current iteration is so cheap compared to a few years ago. Is it worthless?

I bought the JAAM about a year ago and don't see any reason why it would be lacking in quality. Lower stainless steel plate still looks good, foam that seals the scoops to the airbox are working good and there is a noticeable difference in the butt dyno once you pass 40, over 100 there is no question.

Have you taken it to the track to check for any performance gains? Or used a scanner to see if your IATs are lower?

The main reason the JAAM kits are so cheap probly has to do with the popularity and effectiveness of the lower ram air kits.

It gets a straight shot of outside air to your intake without blocking your condenser and radiator, pulling superheated air right off the pavement at idle, and does not suck dirt from the pavement or water from puddles. The IATs show a definite improvement from stock. It makes so much sense with the WS6 hood. I in fact use the lower plate with my homemade CAI on the standard hood.

Not trying to jack the thread but this is kinda on subject. I have ws6 lower air box assembly. Any different thoughts on if I should do the free ram air mod to this box? I did it to the stocker. Seemed like it did a little something ? Filter got dirtier faster so more air must of entered? I've read that the angle of the hood doesn't allow better airflow if sealed to the box vs f.r.a.m.? Old threads though. Thx

the JAAM kits are 210$ not 100$ you have to scroll to the bottom of the page and click full kit not just bottom plate for engine dress up.. so yeah.. price is still high as always.

I wouldn't hack up the WS6 airbox. I'd seal the scoops to the airbox with that, or do the FRA with the standard airbox.

I built something similar for about $20. Seals the air box with foam that Is mounted in some Aluminum C channel to the hood. Seems to work pretty well.
