New GTO
Anybody run up against a new GTO yet? Just wondering how they measure up against an FBODY.
Also, I IMHO they are too plain. I don't think they look much like a sports car as compared to the FBODs.

I've seen alot of 13.5's in mags so they aren't as fast as the f-bods. But they are heavier. Not too bad imo.
I'm just thankful that GM came out with something..anything to fill the void when they axed the f-body.Heck I liked it enough to buy one!

It's a nice car, I'd freshen up the exterior a little myself as well. They can't keep up with F-bodies stock for stock or mod for mod due to the extra weight, but they have plenty of potential.

The fastest bone stock 2004 GTO is SLP's, it ran a 13.1 untouched.
It's not a sports car, it's more akin to the Buick turbo Regals than the F-bodies. The front fascia, hood, spoiler, wheels and rear bumper are being freshened for 2005.

You wouldn't want to race against this one, it has an MTI 455ci LS1 that puts down 535 rwhp all-motor. AND it looks good!

They seem like nice cars. At least GM is making something RWD with decent power (other than the vette) but as for the styling, well...
Everytime I look at it, it screams "Cavalier" to me

G'day guys
13.1 on the quarter is about right for your new GTO (nee Monaro here).
My sedan when tested in mags did a 13.3.
Our motors are marginally down on power than yours (stock), but with manufacturing variances, probably some are higher, some lower.
It's funny the different perceptions you guys have on the GTO, we think the front you guys have spoiled the original, you guys think they're plain !
The F body you speak of, what is that ? Am surpised about the weight issue. The Monaro here weighs 1660kg (3660 pounds). Is an F body much lighter than that ?

The f-body we speak of is the Firebird Trans Am and Camaro. Both have the Corvette motor in them. Both have big potential from the 346ci motor. Mine weighs in at 3492 pounds fully loaded w/o traction control.

What color GTO? - it could be me. I live in Garden City and work in Melvindale, so I drive through Dearborn near every day. I have seen a yellow one in Westland w/ the spoiler removed. No others around us yet - the rest have been up in Oakland county. Sorry - but I wouldn't be able to recognize your 'stang - I see about 30 every time I'm on the road and it seems almost half have cobra badging.

I'm surprised you have seen only one Unit213! I've seen quite a few lately over here. I think silver on the GTO doesn't look too bad, but the wheels got to go!
