My new 98 z28. All help and advice is welcome
I just got my 98 z28 today. Shy of 122000 miles. Bone stock other then exhaust and ram air free mod.
I just got back from being over at user ragtopz28's place.
He came up with a list for my car. I'll post it down in the pictures
Definitely getting a lid for it
I already bought all of the things on the left side tonight.
Will slowly start buying things on the right and install all at once
If it's hard to read list is
Headers & y pipe
Ls6 intake
Ported and polished throttle body
Under drive pulley
3600 stall converter
Poly motor mounts
Cam ( undecided on what one for daily driver)
Ls2 chain
And we forgot to add subframe connectors to the list as well

If anyone has anything else to add please chime in or any info on any of it. Im a newbie

3:23 is a time of day, not a gear ratio. You actually have 3.23s.
I wouldn't even bother with a gear swap for a 3.23 car that's going to get a 3600 stall. Once the converter is installed, you won't see more than one tenth of ET reduction from a 3.73 swap, probably less. Not worth the cost at all, unless you want a tighter feel on the street, but I'd try the converter with the stock gears first.
I'd rather use M1 0W40 oil than the Castrol Edge on your list.
I'm not a fan of the underdrive crank pulley for the auto cars, as this will reduce alternator voltage at idle (already pretty low at 550rpm stock in gear). But I guess you'll be raising the idle speed with the cam swap, so it shouldn't be as bad.
And I agree with the above, I'd find a place on that list to ditch those tail lights and go back to stock.

And sorry I'm still learning with 3:23vs3.23 haha

Any advice on a cam?
I want loud and deep rumble
It is a daily driver
Probably buying mac mids and an ory from ragtopz28 when I get paid since he's local
Read a lot of good things about them
Also going to try to get rid of all the emissions stuff under the hood
I've been reading a lot of post on here to learn as much as I can about the cam and if I can leave most internals stock or what I absolutely have to change out.

I would also plan on a lifter upgrade (ls7, etc), ls2 lifter trays and a high volume or ported oil pump. You'd be crazy not to do the oil pump upgrade when you are right there with the cam install.

OP there is a lot of good advice above...ULTIMATEORANGESS and RPM WS6 have been around the block a few times (I always value there opinion).
In defense of my list (it was just a quick list of my recommendation, yes I left out some supporting items ): Oil is personal preference, you will get many varying opinions on that (that's just what I have had good luck with), the headers and y-pipe (that I have) is a cheap option for you, stall is your biggest bang-for-buck-seat-of-pants-mod., I have never had any issues running an UD pulley, install motor mount when you do the header swap, and yes, when you do cam, you will need springs, pushrods, trunion upgrade, oil pump, chain, lifters and trays.
The car pulls pretty good being stone stock...be glad you didn't have the 2.73 gears.

Just have to get the cash.
And so far I love all of the advice I'm getting.
I'm really impressed with this site and everyone on it.
