Default Best mod for Stock M6

Well I just bought a new 99 White M6 T/A pretty pimp little car I'll have some pics soon but I don't have a digital camera so I don't ahve a way to get any at the moment. Anyways I was waundering what the best mod would be besides air lid, filter etc. Like the A4 has a TQ converter is there a must have mod or mods for the M6 that I should look into I have about 1000 to spend. Any suggestions would be weclome. Thanks for the help guys.

4.10s and DRs would be my choice.

I'd be sure I was able to replace a lunched rear end before I did this.

For ***** and giggles, 4.10s, although serious racing on real tires (not regular radials) will cause a busted rear end.

You could probably get 4.10s, a lid, and a catback. If you switched up some stuff and bought some used stuff, you may get and headers for under a grand. Or cam, headers, catback, lid; with good shopping etc.

First answer JRP's question before you decide. I have gone through this already and went with the 4.11's and complete rebuild of the posi unit and added a TA cover since my car is not for the strip. If you plan on going on a regular basis don't mess with the stock setup and get the NO2 instead. Instant gratification. As for the gears, it was the single most impressive mod that I have done. It totally changed the attitude of the car.

A clutch as a first mod?

Zero.

The stock clutch can handle up to 400rwhp with no problem at all in my experience.

It's definitely not a good first mod IMO. First mods are generally, intake, exhaust, tires, etc. The whole point of modding cars is to increase power/performance. A new clutch isn't going to do a thing with stock power.

STOP the PRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dont mean to bust anyones bubble here but the first mod you shoudl do to our little F-Bodies "IMO" is SUBFRAME CONNECTORS. I know its not a horsepower mod but 1. makes the car handle 10 times better and 2. the longer you wait to get them the more your body joints will be misaligned and your car will rattle. I waited 36k to do mine and I can see places where my body panels are slightly misaligned as well as when I installed them you can tell that the chassis (sub frames) were not perfect. I mean I have T-tops so maybe that added to my weakness but for the $200 or so that they cost DO THEM FIRST and then get a cat back and gears.

you cant go wrong with subframes, because no matter what mods you plan to do to the car they will always benefit!

just my 2 cents.
